Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Humauin Kobir on Wednesday said closer partnerships with US businesses and investors could significantly contribute to Bangladesh's economic growth, employment generation and exchange of technology and knowledge.

"Bangladesh is currently passing through an important phase of economic transformation and emerging opportunities," he said while meeting a high-level US business delegation at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in Dhaka, BSS reports.

The delegation, led by US-Bangladesh Business Council President Atul Keshap, paid a courtesy call on the Foreign Affairs Adviser and discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral trade and investment ties.

Welcoming the delegation, Kabir said Bangladesh and the United States enjoy longstanding and multidimensional relations, while enhanced economic cooperation, particularly in trade and investment, could further strengthen the partnership.

Highlighting opportunities and facilities available to US investors as well as Bangladesh's promising sectors, he said the government remains committed to ensuring a business- and investment-friendly environment.

The two sides held detailed discussions on expanding bilateral trade and investment, enhancing economic cooperation and tapping Bangladesh's investment potential.

They also exchanged views on opportunities for US investment and cooperation in industry and infrastructure, energy, technology, digital economy, healthcare and other promising sectors.

Keshap expressed interest in Bangladesh's economic potential and investment opportunities and stressed expanding cooperation between the private sectors of the two countries.

He also conveyed the US-Bangladesh Business Council's interest in taking business relations between Bangladesh and the United States to a new height.

Both sides underscored the importance of deepening engagement and partnerships between the Bangladeshi and US business communities to inject further dynamism into bilateral economic relations.
