Journalist, Chhatra Dal leader held in pornography case in Rangamati
Journalist Saikat Ranjan Chowdhury and Chhatra Dal leader Ali Akbar Suman have been arrested in pornography case filed by a female central leader of Chhatra Dal.
Rangamati Superintendent of Police (SP) Muhammad Abdur Rakib said, "Two people have been arrested from Rangamati as suspects in a case filed by a female leader of Chhatra Dal at Shahbagh Police Station under the Pornography Act."
Rangamati Journalists Union President Md. Kamaluddin said, "On Tuesday, August 11, at around 2:30 pm, the detective police first arrested former district Chhatra Dal general secretary Ali Akbar Suman from in front of the Rangamati Hill District Council. Later, journalist Saikat went there after receiving Sumon's call. There, he got into an argument with the detective police. Later, the police arrested Suman along with him."
It has been learnt that recently, an obscene video of an female leader went viral on social media. After that, she filed a case with Shahbagh Police Station regarding the matter.
When contacted on the leader's mobile phone to inquire about this matter, she did not pick up the call. Even when she was sent a short message on WhatsApp, she did not reply.
