56 police officers sent into mandatory retirement
The government has sent seven assistant superintendents of police (ASPs) and 49 inspectors into mandatory retirement from public service.
The decision was announced in two separate notifications issued by the Police-1 and Police-2 branches of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday, before publishing it on its website on Friday.
The officers were retired 'in the public interest', according to the order.
According to the notifications, signed by Senior Secretary of the ministry Manzur Morshed Chowdhury, the 56 officers serving in the Bangladesh Police had completed 25 years of service.
The government invoked Section 45 of the Public Service Act 2018 to make the move.
Under the provision, the government may, if it considers it necessary in the public interest, retire a government employee compulsorily without assigning any reason after the employee has completed 25 years of service.
The seven assistant superintendents of police sent into compulsory retirement are Noor-e-Alam Siddique, assistant superintendent of police at Rab headquarters; Md Nurul Mostakin, assistant commissioner (Patrol) of Tejgaon Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police; Kazi Wazed Ali, assistant superintendent of police of Matiranga Circle in Khagrachhari; Md Syeduzzaman, assistant superintendent of police of Galachipa Circle in Patuakhali; Md Golam Kibria, assistant superintendent of police at Rab-2; Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, assistant superintendent of police at the Reserve Range Force in Dhaka; and Md Robiul Islam, assistant superintendent of police of Sirajganj district.
The retired inspectors include Md Abul Hossain of Court Police in Jamalpur; Md Kamrul Islam Molla of Sadar Circle Office in Noakhali; Md Mujibur Rahman of the Crime Branch in Chapainawabganj; Moha Javedul Islam of the School of Intelligence under Special Branch; Md Mojibur Rahman of Dewanganj Circle Office in Jamalpur; AKM Mizanul Haque of the Reserve Office in Gazipur; Md Mir Mosharraf Hossain of Tourist Police, Gazipur Zone; Md Shafiqul Islam of the Control Room in Chandpur; Md Moniruzzaman of CID, Dhaka; Md Azharul Islam Sarker of Court Police in Tangail; and Md Kamrul Islam, who was under suspension and attached to the Barishal Range Office.
The list also includes AFM Nasim of Planning and Research under Special Branch; Md Mofazzel Hossain of PBI Dhaka Metropolitan City; Md Ziaul Morshed of CID's Dhaka Metro South; Sunil Kumar Karmakar of Court Police in Magura; AKM Azmal Huda of DB in Kushtia; Swapan Kumar Majumder of Industrial Police-2 in Gazipur; Md Belayet Hossain of CID in Munshiganj; Md Mehedi Hasan, officer-in-charge of Tongi East Police Station; Md Moniruzzaman of the Records Section of PBI; Md Enamul Haque of Logistics, CID; Belal Uddin Jahangir of CID in Cox's Bazar; Md Babul Akter of PBI in Chattogram; and Imtiaz Md Ahsanul Kader Bhuiyan of the Political Central under Special Branch.
