EWU Hosts Seminar on Research and Higher Education Opportunities in Japan
The Department of English at East West University (EWU), in association with the Japanese Universities Alumni Association in Bangladesh (JUAAB), organized a seminar titled "Unlock Your Global Future: Research & Study in Japan" on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the Manzur Elahi Auditorium of EWU.
Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of East West University, attended the seminar as the Chief Guest. Dr. A T M Zafrul Azam, President of JUAAB, was the Special Guest, while Professor Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Fazle Akbar attended as the Guest of Honor. Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of EWU, chaired the seminar, according to a press release. A distinguished delegation of Japanese academics and education professionals delivered presentations during the technical sessions. The speakers included Professor Shinjiro Ogita, Dean, Prefectural University of Hiroshima; Professor Hiroki Hamada, Director, Okayama University of Science; Associate Professor Miwa Abe and Visiting Professor Yoshio Maeda of Tokai University; Professor Daizo Kudo of Naase Viita Co. Ltd.; and Mr. Kamamoto, Director of Study Japan.
The speakers discussed contemporary research trends, English-taught degree programs, Japanese language preparation, the process of identifying and communicating with potential university supervisors, and opportunities available to international students in Japan. They also provided practical guidance on pursuing Master's and PhD programs, developing research proposals, and preparing for academic careers and employment opportunities in Japan.
The open discussion and question-and-answer session provided students and faculty members with an opportunity to directly interact with the visiting Japanese academics and education experts.
