Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Ajit Singh paid a courtesy call on Brigadier General (Retd.) A. K. M. Shamsul Islam, Defence Adviser to the Prime Minister, yesterday at the Armed Forces Division in Dhaka Cantonment.
During the meeting, both dignitaries exchanged warm pleasantries and recalled the enduring, friendly bilateral relations shared by Bangladesh and Canada over the past five decades.
The discussions centered on exploring potential avenues of Canadian assistance toward the overall modernization and capacity enhancement of the Bangladesh Armed Forces.
Both sides signaled a positive stance on broadening ties across critical areas, including military technology exchange, strategic defence collaboration, joint training programs, disaster management, and peacekeeping operations.
Furthermore, the Defence Adviser and the Canadian Envoy expressed a mutual commitment to elevating the existing diplomatic and defence framework between the two nations to new heights through sustained bilateral initiatives.
