IFIC Bank PLC has signed a participation agreement with Bangladesh Bank under the BDT 10,000 crore refinance scheme established by the central bank with the aim of ensuring food security, increasing agricultural production and generating employment, according to a press release.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at Bangladesh Bank’s Head Office on Sunday. On behalf of IFIC Bank, the agreement was signed by its Managing Director, Syed Mansur Mustafa, while A K M Sayduzzaman, Director, Agricultural Credit Department-2, signed on behalf of Bangladesh Bank. The signing ceremony was also attended by Rafia Sultana, Additional Director, Agricultural Credit Department-2, Bangladesh Bank; Helal Ahmed, Chief of Branch Business & Head of Operations, IFIC Bank; Fariha Haider, Head of SME, IFIC Bank; along with other senior officials from both institutions.
Under the “Refinance Scheme for Agricultural and Rural Sector to Increase Agricultural Production and Employment Generation.” eligible farmers, entrepreneurs and customers engaged in productive and income-generating activities across the agricultural and rural economy will have greater access to financing facilities. The initiative is expected to facilitate the flow of necessary financing into agricultural production while supporting rural economic activities and employment generation.
Through its extensive nationwide network of branches and sub-branches, IFIC Bank continues to provide banking and financing facilities to customers across agricultural and rural communities. Participation in this refinance scheme will further expand the Bank’s financing support for these sectors and strengthen its contribution to the country’s food security, financial inclusion and sustainable economic development.
