TMGB, Russian House in Dhaka discuss closer cooperation in technology journalism

The Technology Media Guild Bangladesh (TMGB) Executive Committee held a courtesy meeting with Alexandra A. Khlevnoy, Director of the Russian House in Dhaka, on Wednesday to explore avenues for strengthening professional ties and cooperation between technology journalists and media professionals in Bangladesh and Russia.

A TMGB delegation led by its President Mohammad Kawsar Uddin met Khlevnoy at the Russian House in Dhaka.

The delegation included Vice Presidents Kumar Bishwajit Roy and Moidul Islam; General Secretary Mursalin Haque Zonaid; Treasurer Mahadi Hasan Shimul; Organising Secretary Md. Golam Dustogir Touhid; Publication Secretary Naznin Akter Lucky and Executive Members Nazmul Hossain and Rahim Sheikh.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to expand cooperation in science and technology journalism and promote professional exchanges between media communities in Bangladesh and Russia.

Particular emphasis was placed on organising joint media workshops, masterclasses, professional training programmes and capacity-building initiatives for science and technology journalists. Both sides expressed interest in developing programmes aimed at enhancing journalists’ specialised knowledge and professional skills.

The Russian House expressed its willingness to provide necessary support for such initiatives. The meeting also explored opportunities to establish long-term professional links between media organisations in the two countries.

Khlevnoy briefed the TMGB delegation on various activities of the Russian House, including higher-education opportunities in Russia through government scholarships, Russian language courses, and international events and short-term programmes for Bangladeshi children, young people and professionals.

The participants also discussed further opportunities for capacity building among science and technology journalists and media professionals, as well as prospects for sustained professional cooperation between media organisations in Bangladesh and Russia.

The TMGB delegation welcomed the Russian House’s positive approach and expressed hope that the meeting would pave the way for stronger professional cooperation between technology journalists and media organisations of the two countries.
