8-foot snake rescued from Shah Rukh Khan’s home

An eight-foot-long snake has been rescued from Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s Mumbai residence, Mannat, while another managed to escape during the operation.

The two snakes were spotted entwined beneath a shed in the garden of the Bandra West bungalow around 8pm on Aug 17, prompting security personnel to call for help, according to broadcaster NDTV.

Snake rescuer Vicky Dubey was called to the residence and subsequently alerted Forest Department Round Officer Deepak Dada Gaikwad and the Mumbai Range Office controller in Thane.

Dubey managed to safely capture one of the snakes, which was identified as a Dhaman, or Indian rat snake.

The non-venomous reptile measured about eight feet long and poses no threat to humans, according to the rescuer.

The second snake, however, escaped as people began gathering in the area.

Its disappearance caused concern among Mannat’s security personnel and household members, prompting a search of the premises that continued until late at night.

The snake could not be located despite the search.

Dubey reassured those at the residence that the captured snake was harmless and urged them not to panic.

The rescued snake was later released into its natural habitat in accordance with Forest Department protocols, NDTV reported.
