Rajshahi Stars FC will face Rovers FC of Guam in their final Group A match of the AFC Women's Champions League 2026/27 preliminary stage on Sunday at Likas Stadium in Malaysia.
The match kicks off at 2 pm Bangladesh time.
The match against Rovers will be merely a formality for Rajshahi Stars as they have already been eliminated from the tournament after losing their previous two group matches.
Ahead of the match, Rajshahi Stars underwent their final day practice on Saturday. The team practiced at the Stadium Complex Sukan Penampang at 4 pm local time in Malaysia. Before that, the players who were in the previous match's XI, participated in a recovery session. The last day's practice focused on match strategy and team coordination.
Team manager Mushfiqur Rahman wants to end the campaign with a win in the last match of the tournament. He mentioned that participating in such an international tournament is a big achievement for Bangladesh.
Midfielder Shaheda Akhter Ripa said that they want to leave the field with a good performance in the last match. At the same time, she sought the blessings of the countrymen.
Earlier, Rajshahi Stars FC suffered a fighting 2-1 defeat to hosts Sabah FA of Malaysia in their second Group A match of the AFC Women's Champions League 2026/27 preliminary stage at Likas Stadium in Malaysia on Thursday.
With this consecutive defeat, Rajshahi Stars were eliminated from the preliminary stage after losing both of their matches.
In the day's match, Sabah forward Hekima Starks broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute. She doubled the lead in the 81st minute, scoring her second goal of the match.
Rajshahi substitute forward Mst Sulatan reduced the deficit in the 87th minute with a lone goal, but the visitors could not find an equaliser.
Earlier, Rajshahi Stars suffered a 4-0 defeat to India's East Bengal FC in their opening group match.
