Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain Bokul has said no irregularities will be tolerated in the Health Ministry, adding that he wants to discharge his responsibilities with a good reputation.
"I want to perform my duties with utmost dedication and leave with a good reputation," he said.
The minister made the remarks while addressing the Annual Conference-2026 of the Dhaka University Economics Department Alumni Association as the chief guest at the Rawa Club Convention Center in Mohakhali, Dhaka, on Saturday night. Recalling his university days, classmates and memories of the Liberation War, Sardar Sakhawat paid tribute to the late teachers and classmates of the Department of Economics. He recalled that the academic life of students of the 1969-70 batch was disrupted by the Liberation War. "After the war, when we returned and had to sit for our examinations, we met the then Head of the Department, Dr. M.N. Huda. We requested special consideration, highlighting our participation in the Liberation War. Later, Huda Sir arranged for the regularisation of our academic status," he said. Recalling the contributions of his teachers, the Health Minister said their guidance and support had played a vital role in helping the students reach their present positions.
"We have been able to reach this stage today because of the proper guidance and inspiration of our talented teachers," he said. Speaking about his responsibilities as Health Minister, Sardar Sakhawat said he intends to carry out the important responsibility with the highest level of dedication. "As a friend and colleague, my main goal is to serve the country while upholding the bright image and legacy of the Department of Economics," he said.
