Five police officers promoted to Additional IGP
Five police officials holding the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) have been promoted to Additional Inspector General of Police (Additional IGP).
The information was announced in a notification issued on Sunday (23 August 2026) by the Police-1 Branch of the Public Security Division under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The promoted officials are:
" Md. Sayedur Rahman, Director of Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital
" Md. Mainul Hasan, Additional IGP (current charge) of Tourist Police
" Md. Israel Hawladar, Police Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police
" Md. Iqbal Hossain, DIG of Dhaka Range
" Md. Kamrul Ahsan, DIG at Police Headquarters
The notification stated that the order would take effect immediately in the public interest. The promoted officials have been instructed to submit their joining reports to the Senior Secretary.
The names of all five promoted officials were mentioned in the notification.
