Govinda warns of action against ‘false’ claims about marriage

Bollywood actor and former MP Govinda has issued a legal warning against the circulation of what he describes as false, defamatory and unverified claims about his personal and family life. The warning comes amid heightened public interest in his relationship with wife Sunita Ahuja and recent speculation surrounding his equation with actor Komal Rani Swarnkar. His legal notice states that those found spreading such content could face legal action and that damages of up to ?100 crore may be sought.

The notice, issued on Govinda’s behalf, cautions media organisations, digital platforms, social media users and content creators against creating, publishing, uploading, broadcasting or sharing material that is allegedly false, defamatory, malicious, fabricated or unverified. It also specifically raises concerns over the circulation of photographs, videos, audio recordings, morphed images, deepfakes and other AI-generated or manipulated content.

According to the notice, Govinda has not authorised anyone to create, alter or commercially use his voice, photographs, identity, likeness or material relating to his private and family life through artificial intelligence or other digital technologies.

The legal warning comes amid recent social media claims about Govinda’s reported court marriage with Komal Rani Swarnkar. Previous reports surrounding the divorce between Govinda and Sunita had also made headlines before being disputed.

The notice reportedly states that Govinda believes certain rumours may be part of a deliberate attempt to damage his reputation and cause him mental and social distress.
