Sayedur Rahman promoted to Additional IGP
The Bangladesh government has promoted senior police officer Md. Sayedur Rahman to the rank of Additional Inspector General of Police (Additional IGP), elevating him to a Grade-2 post within the national force. Currently serving as Director (DIG) of Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital in Dhaka, Md. Sayedur Rahman brings extensive administrative leadership to his new position.
In his distinguished personal background, his mother was previously honored with a special recognition award as a Ratnagarbha (Mother of Merit). According to an official gazette notification issued by the Police-1 Branch of the Public Security Division, Ministry of Home Affairs, the promotion was executed by order of the President.
The gazette was formally signed by Deputy Secretary Tauhid Ahmed on Sunday (23 August 2026). Md. Sayedur Rahman hails from his ancestral home in Brahmanbaria.
