Burichang Press Club gets new body
The new committee of Burichang Press Club was formed with Kazi Khorshed Alam of the Daily Naya Diganta as president and Zahirul Haque Babu of the Daily Ruposhi Bangla as general secretary.
The new committee was formed at the biennial election for the 2026-2028 term held at the Burichong Press Club Hall on Monday (August 24).
A total of 28 members of the club exercised their voting rights. The Chief Election Commissioner for the election was Mohammad Shariful Islam, former president of the Cumilla Bar Association.
Cumilla Press Club General Secretary Imtiaz Ahmed Jitu and Burichong Ananda Pilot Government High School Assistant Teacher Mohammad Tajul Islam served as commissioners.
In the election, Gazi Mohammad Jahangir Alam Jabir and Sohrab Sumon of Daily Amar Sangbad were elected as Vice Presidents, Maruf Ahmed Kalpa of Daily Pratidin Sangbad as Assistant General Secretary and Md. Abdullah of Daily Khola Kagoj as Assistant Organizing Secretary, Md. Fayez Ahmed of Daily Mukta Khabor as Finance Secretary, Md. Shafi of Daily Bangladesh Samachar as Office Secretary, Muhammad Rakibul Hasan Rony of Durbin News as Publicity and Publication Secretary, Alor Rezaul Karim Raju of Daily Cumilla as Library Secretary, Al Mamun Tutu of Daily Pratidin Sangbad as Science and Information Technology Secretary and Mohammad Jamal Uddin Dulal of Daily Jai Jai Din as Literature, Culture and Sports Secretary were elected.
Md. Moslim Uddin of Daily Manabzamin, Abdul Momen of Daily Bhorer Kagoj, Md. Gias Uddin of Mainamati Online TV, Mohammad Tajul Islam of Daily Sangram, Alauddin Ahmed of Daily Observer and Md. Mohiuddin of Daily Bartam Bangla have been elected as executive members.
