Fishery owner gets death threat in Cumilla
A fishery owner has been threatened with death by miscreants in Cumilla Adarsha Sadar upazila of Cumilla.
As he filed a complaint over poising his fish ponds at ‘Faiz Fishery’, the miscreants gave the death threat. The family claimed that poison was used in “Faiz Fishery”, one of the main sources of their family income, on the night of February 19, 2025.
Almost all the fish in the farm died. They have suffered major financial losses due to this. The family alleged that the next day, February 20, 2025, some people went to their house and vandalized it. At that time, Md. Faiz Mahbub Siam, son of Mahbub Hasan Pavel and Parvin Akter of Araiora village, was also threatened to be killed if they find him, the family members claimed. An extreme fear prevails among the family members over this incident.
The family has also claimed that Siam has been a victim of political vendetta for a long time because he was active in politics during the previous Awami League government.
They alleged that the normal life of the family is being disrupted due to various incidents and they are suffering from insecurity. They have demanded that legal action be taken by identifying those involved in the incident and ensuring the safety of the family.
