Preventive gender-based violence, building the organizational capacity, leadership, and strategic planning of grassroots youth groups and to collaborate with media professionals, journalists, and influencers to establish gender-responsive journalism and inclusive digital content are basic objective of the advocacy workshop for youth for equality arranged by JAAGO Foundation.
Government officials, media activists, youth led organization representatives, social media activists and nongovernment development workers were present at the advocacy workshop held on August 27, 2026 at a hotel in the capital.
Distinguished guests and speakers like Department of Youth Development Deputy Director and Directorate of Women Affairs Assistant Director (Monitoring, Coordination and Awareness Jesmin Ara, Department of Youth Development Deputy Director (Planning Mariam Akhter were present.
Systematic change in a society requires diverse partnerships. We are looking into making partnerships with multiple stakeholders. This project is also working in the same way. Youth has the power, let us not use that power to make fear in others, but to remove fear from people," she added.
Youths are not only the future leaders but also the driving force behind positive changes. By actively participating in community service, innovation, leadership, decision making, Bangladeshi youths are already making a significant change. Shomotay Tarunno will engage Bangladeshi youths, Youth-Led Organizations (YLOs), National Youth Council (NYC), media professionals, local content creators, social media influencers, academicians and policymakers in the next four years."
Youth participation and engagement are essential components of a well-functioning society, and young people can bring positive changes if their voice is heard. However, the potential youth are not receiving enough opportunities to talk with decision-makers. To address the issue, JAAGO Foundation has previously arranged such platforms before.
To continue the opportunity for the youth, JAAGO Foundation arranged the program to ensure inclusive involvement with young politicians. The discussion has covered youth engagement in community development, anti-democratic and extreme values, soft skill development and implication in employment, entrepreneurship opportunity in communities, etc.
The primary objective of the project is to challenge and dismantle harmful gender stereotypes while empowering young people, especially girls and young women to reach their full potential in an equitable society.
