The eighth warm-up match between the national hockey team and the junior (under-20) hockey team was held at the MaulanaBhashani National Hockey Stadium on Thursday. The senior team outplayed junior team by 6-1 goals in this fiercely competitive four-quarter match.
Before the start of the match, deep condolences were expressed in memory of those killed and injured in the recent terrible natural disaster in Nepal. Players, coaching staff and officials present on the field stood and observed a minute of silence.
The senior team was in control of the field from the beginning of the game. Amirul scored 3 goals for the team alone. In addition, Mimo, Mahbub and Joy scored one goal each to ensure the team's big win. Ismail scored the only goal for the junior team in the very last quarter of the match.
The players or coaching staff of the junior team are not worried about the result of the match. The team has informed that the main goal of these matches is not the result, but their own strategic improvement.
The junior team players have been able to implement the game plan and instructions given by the coach on the field to a large extent. The head coach is satisfied with the responsible and disciplined performance of the players.
As a preparation for the upcoming international tournament, these practice matches between the two teams are playing a very effective role in increasing the fitness and coordination of the players on the field.
Earlier, Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) has announced an 18-member final national squad for the upcoming Asian Games.
The main goal of the Bangladesh team is now to achieve good results in the upcoming Asian Games. Keeping this goal in mind, a tour of Germany has been planned for the players to undergo higher training. The rest of the team's coaching staff is currently in Germany. However, the entire matter of this tour depends on obtaining a visa. The final result of the German visa may be known next Sunday (August 23).
The Hockey Federation has already prepared a very effective 'Plan B' so that the players' preparations are not disrupted in case of any visa-related complications. In case of a German visa, the China Hockey Association has been contacted to play at least six international matches before the Asian Games as an alternative, and the schedule for the China tour has already been finalized.
According to the final schedule, Bangladesh is scheduled to play a total of 6 international matches in China between August 30 and September 9. If the visa for Germany is granted by Sunday, the team will give Germany first priority. In that case, even if the number of international matches is slightly reduced, Germany's advanced facilities will be chosen as the main means of preparation.
