Manikganj Detective Branch (DB) police arrested three drug dealers, including the driver, while smuggling yaba tablets in a government ambulance of Manikganj Medical College Hospital.
According to a notification sent by District Detective Branch In-charge Manabendra Balo on Thursday (August 27) at around 10 pm, the arrestees were held along with 1,500 pieces of yaba tablets during a raid on the Manikganj-Singair regional road in the Beutha More area under Manikganj Sadar Police Station on Thursday afternoon.
The arrestees have been identified as- Khandaker Atiqur Rahman Rubel (40), son of late Khandaker Sharif Uddin of the West Seota area of Manikganj Sadar Upazila, Farid Mohammad Saikat (47), son of late Sultan Mia of the Notun Basti area, and Rezaul Karim Khan Milon (41), son of Abul Kashem of the Jhitka Kalahati area of Harirampur Upazila.
DB Police SI Abhijit Chowdhury, who led the operation, said, "Acting on a tip-off, we conducted an operation in an ambulance at Beutha intersection with our team. During this, 1,500 yaba pills were recovered and 3 people including the ambulance driver were arrested."
DB in-charge Manabendra Balo said that a case has been registered under the Narcotics Control Act at Manikganj Sadar Police Station in this incident.
Meanwhile, Manikganj Medical College Hospital Director Md. Shafiqul Islam said, "I have asked the DB OC to take legal action immediately after learning about the drugs in the ambulance."
