Bhutan-Bangladesh Friendship Archery Tournament concludes

With the upcoming Asian Games in sight, the ‘Bhutan-Bangladesh Friendship Tournament’ concluded on Saturday at the Archery Training Academy in Tongi with the participation of archers from Bangladesh and Bhutan. In this competition, archers from the two countries showcased their skills in various events in the fight for medals.

In the recurve men's singles, Ram Krishna Saha of Bangladesh won the gold medal, Abdur Rahman Alif won the silver medal, and Mishad Pradhan won the bronze medal. In the recurve women's singles, Saima Salah Uddin won the gold medal, Mosa. Monira Akhter won the silver medal, and Shima Akhter Shimu won the bronze medal. In addition, in the compound men's singles, Himu Bachar won the gold medal, Md. Tariqul Islam Tauhid won silver and Bhutan's Setum Gateshead won bronze. In the compound women's singles, Pushpita Zaman won gold, Mosa. Kulsum Akhter Moni won silver and Banya Akhter won bronze.

There was also fierce competition in the team and mixed doubles events. In the recurve mixed team, Abdur Rahman Alif and Shima Akhter Shimu won gold, Ram Krishna Saha and Saima Salah Uddin won silver and the pair of Kinle Tahering of Bhutan and Sonali Roy of Bangladesh won bronze. In the compound mixed team, Newaz Ahmed Rakib and Pushpita Zaman won gold, Tandin Dorji and Sonam Dema won silver and Aishwarya Rahman and Banya Akhter of Bangladesh won bronze.

In the recurve men's team event, the Bangladesh team consisting of Ram Krishna Saha, Md. Rakib Mia and Abdur Rahman Alif won the gold medal. The team formed by players from Bhutan and Bangladesh won the silver and bronze medals. In the recurve women's team event, Saima Salah Uddin, Mosa. Monira Akhter and Shima Akhter Shimu of Bangladesh won the gold and silver were won by Sonali Roy, Nasrin Akhter and Arohi Afroz of Bangladesh.

On the other hand, in the compound men's team event, the Bangladesh team of Himu Bachar, Aishwarya Rahman and Newaz Ahmed Rakib won the gold medal and the Bhutanese team won the silver medal. In the compound women's team event, the Bangladesh team of Mosa. Kulsum Akhter Moni, Bonya Akhter and Pushpita Zaman won the gold medal and the team formed by Bhutan and Bangladesh won the silver medal.

The competition ended with the award ceremony. The awards were presented by World Archery Asia and Bangladesh Archery Federation President Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapal, Managing Director and CEO of Sampan Foundation Imamul Hasan and Archery Federation General Secretary Syed Tanvir Raihan along with other officials of the federation. This friendship tournament has further sharpened the preparations of archers from both countries ahead of the Asian Games.
