Selim Al Deen’s play Putro staged at Shilpakala

Eminent playwright Selim Al Deen’s play “Putro” (The Son) was staged at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy to commemorate the 77th birth anniversary of celebrated playwright and theatre personality Selim Al Deen this evening.

Earlier, a seminar, titled “The Scope of Dualistic-Non-dualistic Art Theory” was held at the National Theatre Building under the arrangement of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, BSS reports.

Essayist Rubaiyat Ahmed presented a paper titled “The Scope of Dualistic-Non-dualistic Art Theory” while educationists discussed about the contribution of Al Deen’s in the field of theatre.  

Referring to the world Selim Al Deen created through his dedicated work in developing his distinctive theatrical tradition, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Director General and poet Rezauddin Stalin said they want to create a new world of theatre at the academy.

Prominent Bangladeshi playwright, dramatist, and theatre theoretician Muhamed Mianudin Ahmed popularly known as Selim Al Deen was born at Senerkhil village under Sonagazi Upazila in Feni on August 18, 1949. He died on January 14, 2008.
