BGB seizes Indian sarees worth Tk 3.58cr in Sunamganj


Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) during a task force operation seized a covered van with 2,684 Indian sarees worth Tk 3.58 crore in Shantiganj Bazar area of Sunamganj district early Monday.

Acting on a tip-off, a special task force of Sunamganj BGB-28 Battalion, led by Sunamganj District Administration Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Mehedi Hasan Hridoy and Assistant Director of BGB-28, Md Selim Rana,  conducted a drive in the area around 3:40am and intercepted a covered van, said a BGB press release.

Later, they recovered 2,684 pieces of various Indian sarees of different ranges.

The market value of the sarees is Tk 3,58,19,000, it said.

The seized sarees will be handed over to Sunamganj Customs.
