Ansar-VDP Director General Pays Courtesy Call on President

Director General of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (Ansar-VDP), Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud, paid a courtesy call on President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at Bangabhaban on Tuesday afternoon.

During the meeting, the Director General congratulated and extended his best wishes to President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on assuming office. He briefed the President on the overall activities of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party, its ongoing development and modernization initiatives, and future plans. He also highlighted various welfare-oriented and development activities undertaken by the force, according to a press release.

The President praised the responsible role and contributions of Ansar-VDP members in maintaining public security and carrying out various state responsibilities, including during the period following the mass uprising and the 13th parliamentary election.

He stressed the importance of maintaining professionalism, discipline and a strong sense of responsibility among Ansar-VDP personnel in safeguarding peace, security and public order, while also calling for greater engagement between the force and the people.

The President said the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party is the country's largest people-oriented security and public order force. Its members have long played an important role in maintaining national security, public safety and social stability.

He emphasized the need to continue the modernization of the force and strengthen its organizational capacity to make its role in ensuring national security and public welfare broader and more effective.

The President also respectfully recalled the contributions of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman to the reform of the Ansar force, particularly the establishment of the Ansar Battalion and the Village Defence Party. He also recalled the role of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia in the modernization of the Ansar force, enactment of various laws and establishment of the Ansar-VDP Development Bank.

President Mirza Fakhrul emphasized expanding foreign-language, technical and technological training opportunities to equip Ansar-VDP members with skills suitable for employment and the demands of the modern world.

He said opportunities must be created for members to develop diverse skills in line with the requirements of the modern world. Such initiatives, he noted, would not only enhance their professional capabilities but also contribute significantly to the development of the country's human resources.

The President praised Ansar-VDP's achievements in solar power generation, human resource development, sports and cultural activities, as well as its contributions to various people-oriented initiatives. He called for further expansion of these positive and welfare-focused activities.

The President assured continued cooperation for the overall development of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party, strengthening its organizational capacity and ensuring the welfare of its members.

He also urged Ansar-VDP personnel to discharge their duties with greater dedication, professionalism and responsibility in the service of the country's peace, security, public order and welfare.

During the courtesy meeting, Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud expressed his gratitude to the President and invited him to visit the Ansar Academy at a convenient time.

The Director General expressed his determination to make the activities of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party more people-oriented, modern, efficient and effective, guided by the President's valuable advice and directives.

Secretaries to the President and other senior officials concerned were present during the meeting.
