Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen on Thursday paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister's Defence Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam at his office at the Armed Forces Division (AFD) in Dhaka Cantonment.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to further strengthen and accelerate existing military and defence cooperation between Bangladesh and China, said an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate press release on Thursday evening.
The discussions covered advanced professional training for AFD members of the two countries, exchanges in military education and enhancement of technological capabilities.
They expressed hope that increased exchanges of experience and training cooperation to address emerging military challenges would further deepen bilateral relations.
The defence adviser recalled the longstanding friendship between the two countries and China's support for Bangladesh's development. He expressed hope that bilateral cooperation would continue to expand.
The Chinese ambassador reaffirmed China's continued support for modernising Bangladesh's defence sector.
Both sides expressed their commitment to taking bilateral defence cooperation to a new height for mutual benefit.
