Call for Unity Among Sufi Followers at a Gathering of Nearly 3,000 Pir-Mashaikh in Dhaka
One of the largest gatherings of Pir-Mashaikh in recent memory was held in the capital, bringing together nearly 3,000 representatives from Bangladesh and abroad, including Pakistan, India, Iran and Iraq. The conference was organized on the occasion of the holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH) by Imam Professor Dr. Qudrat-E-Khoda Huzur, Director and Coordinator of Dewanbagh Sharif. Pirs, Mashaikh and representatives of various renowned Dargahs, Khanqas and Sufi orders attended the gathering.
The conference, held on Saturday at the Dhaka Officers Club auditorium, called for strengthening unity among followers of Sufi orders, spreading the teachings and love of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), and taking a united stand against hatred and misinformation concerning Sufism and Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH).
Emphasizing solidarity among Sufi followers, Imam Qudrat-E-Khoda Huzur said that if any Dargah faces a problem, followers of other Dargahs should also stand by them. He said, “It is because the Pir-Mashaikh are present that love for the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) remains alive on the soil of Bengal.”
Criticizing opposition and misinformation surrounding Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH), Qudrat-E-Khoda said that those who love Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) do not need any justification to express that love. He also responded to various allegations circulated about Dewanbagh Sharif and invited those concerned to visit the Dargah and observe its activities firsthand. He said, “No activities outside the boundaries of Shariah are carried out at Dewanbagh Sharif.”
Imam Qudrat-E-Khoda further said that the gathering of Pir-Mashaikh and followers of Sufi orders had no political objective. “The followers of the Tariqa have come together out of love for Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH),” he said.
At the event, Pir-Mashaikh emphasized the importance of unity among Pirs, Mashaikh and Sufi followers in the present circumstances, saying that divisions must be overcome. Speakers thanked Imam Qudrat-E-Khoda for bringing representatives of different Sufi orders and Dargahs together on a single platform.
They said Imam Qudrat-E-Khoda had taken the initiative to unite the Pir-Mashaikh and was creating a platform for greater unity among Sufis across the Indian subcontinent.
Hujjatul Islam Wal-Muslimeen Shahabuddin Mashayekhi Ra’d, a representative of Iran’s Al-Mustafa International University, expressed solidarity with the initiative on behalf of Iranian Sufis. Criticizing misinformation surrounding Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH), he said that many of those who oppose observing the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) themselves celebrate the birthdays of their children.
From India, Syed Salahuddin Chishti of Ajmer Sharif, Syed Anis Nizami and Syed Faiz Nizami of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya Dargah, and from Pakistan, Dewan Ahmed Masud of Dargah Hazrat Baba Gansakol Masud and Pir Syed Amir Hossain of Dargah Hazrat Shah Zafar Ali, among representatives from various countries, addressed the gathering.
In addition, Pir-Mashaikh from several renowned Dargahs in Bangladesh, including Maizbhandar, Sureshwar, Sher-e-Bangla, Saifia, Mohammadia, Haqqani, Chishtia Pak Panjatan, Pardeshi, Sufi Astana, Dayamoy, Noor-e-Madina, Chishtia Nizamia, Karan Nagar, Mawla Bhorsa, Chatura, Bhuluya Haidari and Kutubdia Pak Darbar Sharif, also delivered speeches.
