Evercare Hospital Chattogram Provides Radiation Therapy to More Than 2,500 Cancer Patients

Evercare Hospital Chattogram hasachieved a significant milestone in providing advanced cancer care to patientsin Chattogram and surrounding regions. On the occasion of World RadiotherapyAwareness Day, Evercare Hospital Chattogram organized a press meethighlighting the achievements and progress of its radiation therapy services. Sincethe launch of its Comprehensive CancerCare Center in June 2023, the hospital has provided radiation therapy to more than 2,500 cancerpatients. During the same period, the hospital has also successfullycompleted six bone marrow transplants.

Radiotherapy is an importantcomponent of cancer treatment. Approximately 60 percent of cancer patientsrequire radiotherapy at some stage of their treatment, while around 40 percentof patients can achieve disease control and return to a normal life withappropriate radiotherapy. Therefore, ensuring access to modern and preciseradiation therapy has become an integral part of comprehensive cancer care.Over the past three years, more than 2,500 patients have received this serviceat Evercare Hospital Chattogram’s Comprehensive Cancer Care Center.

For many years, cancer patientsfrom Chattogram and neighboring districts had to travel to Dhaka or abroad toaccess advanced cancer treatment. With the aim of changing this reality,Evercare Hospital Chattogram launched the region’s first and only ComprehensiveCancer Care Center in June 2023. The center currently provides integratedservices in Medical Oncology, RadiationOncology, Surgical Oncology, Hematology, Bone Marrow Transplantation, andPalliative Care.

Radiation therapy at the centeris planned according to each patient’s type and location of cancer andindividual treatment requirements. Depending on clinical needs, patients have accessto advanced radiation techniques including IMRT, VMAT, hypo fractionated radiotherapy, Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy(SBRT), and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS). In addition, the hospitalprovides specialized hematology and bone marrow transplant services forpatients suffering from complex blood disorders and cancers.
