BEPZA Executive Chairman inaugurates two modern weighbridges at Dhaka EPZ
Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) is installing weighbridges at its zones to ensure transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the import and export activities of enterprises.
As part of this initiative, BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain, ndc, afwc, psc, G, MPhil on Monday inaugurated two modern weighbridges installed at the old and extension zones of Dhaka EPZ, according to a press release.
The two weighbridges, installed at the main gates of the old and extension zones of Dhaka EPZ, will enable accurate measurement and digital recording of the weight of goods transported by containers, covered vans, and other vehicles entering and exiting the zones. This will further strengthen the effective monitoring of goods transportation and commercial activities.
The installation of weighbridges will enhance transparency and accountability in measuring goods imported and exported under bonded facilities. At the same time, it will improve the accuracy of information on goods entering and exiting the zones, ensure proper utilization of imported raw materials, and strengthen the monitoring of bonding activities.
The system will also contribute to maintaining discipline in commercial operations and safeguarding revenue.
Following Dhaka EPZ, BEPZA is progressing with the installation of similar modern weighbridges at Chattogram EPZ, Adamjee EPZ, Cumilla EPZ, and Karnaphuli EPZ. Weighbridges will be installed gradually across all BEPZA-run zones.
Executive Director of Dhaka EPZ Mohammad Abdul Jabbar, Executive Director (Security), BEPZA Lt. Col. Md. Mohseen Hasan, Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Dhaka EPZ, and representatives of the enterprises of the EPZ were present at the event.
