Four Bangladeshi expats killed in Saudi Arabia road crash
Four Bangladeshi expatriates have been killed in a road crash on their way from Taif to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
In a media statement, the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment said the accident had occurred on Monday night in the Al Hawiyah area, around 7km from the Ridwan Bridge on the Riyadh-Taif Highway.
The four Bangladeshis were travelling in an Innova car when the driver lost traction of the vehicle, resulting in the crash. All four died on the spot.
The dead were identified as Karim Uddin, Khalid Miah, Amin Miah, and Shah Alam. All of them hailed from Sylhet.
The ministry's statement added that the bodies of the dead are being kept at Al-Muwayh General Hospital. Minister for Expatriates' Welfare Ariful Haque Choudhury and State Minister Nurul Hoque have expressed deep grief over the incident.
In a condolence message, they said that constant contact is being maintained with local authorities through the Bangladesh Embassy in Saudi Arabia.
The government also assured that steps are being taken to repatriate the bodies as quickly as possible and to ensure all necessary government assistance and compensation for their families.
