Luipa’s New Song with Lyrics by Robiul Islam Jibon
Lyricist Robiul Islam Jibon and singer Zinia Jafrin Luipa have collaborated on several songs over the years, and their musical pairing has always been well received by listeners. Their latest work, however, carries a more personal emotion. It is not merely a song; it is intertwined with memories of their daughters and the love they hold for them.
Titled ‘Projapoti’ (Butterfly), the song has been written by Jibon and sung by Luipa. Samyabrata Dripto composed and arranged the music, while Chandan Ray Chowdhury directed the music video. The song and its video were released on September 4.
The story behind ‘Projapoti’ began during Eid-ul-Fitr when Jibon visited his village home with his wife and children. One afternoon, he went out for a walk with his daughter Maizah. Along the roadside, butterflies were fluttering among small shrubs. The sight fascinated little Maizah, who wanted to touch the butterflies and run after them. Jibon recorded the moment on his phone.
“After returning to Dhaka, I was watching that video when the idea for the song suddenly came to me. I wrote ‘Projapoti’. Although the inspiration came from my daughter, I wrote the song in a way that listeners can relate it to a friend, a loved one or any feeling of happiness,” Jibon said. After the initial tune and musical arrangement were completed, the song was played to Luipa. She liked it at first hearing. Learning the story behind its creation touched her even more. She then decided to make the song a birthday gift for her daughter Payra.
Payra’s birthday is September 5. The new song was released to mark the occasion. Luipa also completed the music video before the release, with Chandan Ray Chowdhury at the helm. Luipa herself appears in the video with her daughter.
Speaking about the song, Luipa said, “Among my original songs, ‘Projapoti’ will remain a very special one. If listeners hear the song before reading its story, I believe they will understand the story through the melody itself. They will naturally see the image of their own butterfly before their eyes.”
Jibon, too, sees a special connection in the song.
“I wrote the song about my daughter, my butterfly, while Luipa sang it about her butterfly. That makes it all the more special. This song will remain special in both our lives,” he said.
