Former MP Monowar Hossain Chowdhury passes away
Former Awami League lawmaker from Gaibandha-4 (Gobindaganj) constituency, Md. Monowar Hossain Chowdhury, has died at the age of 80.
He passed away at around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, while undergoing treatment at Square Hospital in the capital.
Monowar Hossain Chowdhury was first elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) from Gaibandha-4 constituency on an Awami League ticket in the 2008 national election. He lost the seat in the 2014 election. Later, he was elected to Parliament again from the same constituency as an Awami League candidate in the 11th national election in 2018.
His death was confirmed by his nephew, Masum Lumen."Boro Abba was a humble, polite, and honest person. I ask everyone to pray for the forgiveness of his soul," he said.
