Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain Bokul has said that, special measles vaccination campaign will resume across the country from September 25 of this year with a view to combat measles infection. He made the remarks at the University Women’s Federation in the capital Dhanmondi on Thursday having completion a seminar. The seminar was jointly organized by the Association for Disabled People (ADP) and Rotary Club Ahsan Manzil . He further said that most of the vaccines have already reached the country through UNICEF and the remaining vaccines will also reach by September 17.
He elaborately came up and said again that, when it is seen that the infection is continuing even after completing the measles vaccination campaign then the government conducts a mop-up program. Under this program already 1.4 million new children were vaccinated. Moreover the present government has completed the vaccination activities by collecting vaccines for 18.5 million children in 21 days, he added.
The Minister further added that, medical services have been strengthened in marginal hospitals to reduce the pressure of dengue patients in Dhaka hospitals. At that time he informed again that isolation beds have been prepared to every hospital and mobile hospitals have also been set up. In addition, to ensuring necessary treatment of patients at the Upazilla level , coordination and necessary guidelines have been provided to Upazilla level doctors through the Society of Medicine to reduce the pressure on tertiary hospitals, Sakhawat Hossain added.
