Initiative to build sports grounds from Union to Upazila levels: Aminul
State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque stated that efforts are underway starting from the grassroots level with the aim of establishing sports as a profession. He mentioned that plans have been adopted to construct sports grounds at the union level, while work on building mini-stadiums at the upazila level is also progressing.
Aminul Haque made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the prize-giving ceremony of the 'Deputy Commissioner Gold Cup Football Tournament 2026' final, organized by the district administration in Bogura on Wednesday afternoon.
Aminul Haque said, "The current government is prioritizing sports and initiating new efforts from the grassroots level. Our goal is to establish sports as a profession. We have already planned to construct grounds at the union level and are building mini-stadiums at the upazila level."
Highlighting the initiative to build the 'Arafat Rahman Koko Sports Village' in Bogura, the State Minister announced that a sports village would soon be constructed in the district. The government has already made a decision regarding this, and implementation will begin shortly.
Addressing the issue of limited spectator seating at the sports ground, Aminul Haque stated that galleries would soon be constructed around the field, allowing spectators to comfortably enjoy matches in the future.
Aminul Haque also shared his personal memories associated with the ground. He said, "I came and played on this field myself some time before the election. It feels truly wonderful to be present here again for the final match."
Expressing a firm resolve to promote sports across every district and divisional city in the country, the State Minister emphasized that there is no alternative to sports for molding the future generation into a healthy nation. He noted that the scope of sports must be expanded to keep the youth away from drugs and various other forms of addiction.
He added, "We want to keep our children away from digital devices and build a drug-free society. To achieve this, I seek the cooperation of everyone present in the audience today." "Together, we can build a prosperous, drug-free, and humane Bangladesh."
Bogura City Corporation emerged as the champion in the final of the Deputy Commissioner's Gold Cup Football Tournament. The prize was handed over to the winning team at the conclusion of the competition.
