India and Bangladesh Forge Stronger Security Ties
India and Bangladesh have reaffirmed their commitment to regional stability and maritime security following high-level talks in Dhaka aimed at cementing defense relations between the two neighboring nations.
Dinesh Trivedi, the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, paid a courtesy visit to Brig. Gen. (Retd.) Dr. A K M Shamsul Islam, Defence Advisor to the Prime Minister, at the Armed Forces Division in Dhaka Cantonment on Wednesday.
The bilateral discussions focused on expanding joint military training programs, enhancing disaster management protocols, and bolstering intelligence and operational exchanges between armed forces personnel. Maritime security across the Bay of Bengal also featured prominently on the agenda, alongside broader efforts to secure regional peace.
Trivedi praised Bangladesh's recent socio-economic progress, describing the defense and strategic partnership between New Delhi and Dhaka as a cornerstone of regional security. He reiterated India's commitment to supporting capability development and technical cooperation between the two armed forces.
Both sides concluded the meeting by emphasizing a shared resolve to address evolving global security challenges and maintain geopolitical stability through sustained bilateral cooperation.
