Measles: Death toll reaches  1,019 as seven more die

Deaths of children due to measles and measles symptoms continue in Bangladesh as the country reported seven more fatalities in 24 hours till 8:00am on Saturday, raising the overall death toll from the ongoing outbreak to 1,019, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With the latest figures, the total number of suspected measles deaths has reached 919, while the number of confirmed deaths remained unchanged at 100, as no new confirmed measles deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.

A total of 816 suspected measles cases were reported in the past 24 hours, while the number of suspected measles cases stood at 170,638 from March 15 to September 12, said a press release issued by the DGHS on Saturday.

The number of confirmed measles cases was 39 in the past 24 hours, while the total number of confirmed cases reached 20,006 since March 15.

Since March 15, 2026, a total of 150,202 suspected measles patients have been hospitalized across the country,  of whom 144,485 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, according to the DGHS data.
