Aminul Haque, State Minister for Youth and Sports and Convener of the Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP, announced an initiative to preserve one playground in every union and construct a mini-stadium in every upazila across the country to promote sports at the grassroots level.
He stated that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman attaches the utmost importance to sports in Bangladesh. Under his leadership, efforts are underway to establish sports as a viable profession while simultaneously identifying talented players at the grassroots level and bringing them to the national stage.
Aminul Haque made these remarks while addressing the grand final of the Habib Ullah Chokdar Memorial Football Tournament as the chief guest at the Habib Ullah Degree College grounds in Sakhipur, Shariatpur, on Friday afternoon.
The State Minister said, "The presence of a vast number of spectators at the field proves that public interest in football and sports in Bangladesh remains very high. We aim to harness this interest to further advance sports in the country."
He noted that there are 4,599 unions in the country. Initiatives have been taken to create sporting opportunities by preserving one playground in each union. Simultaneously, work is ongoing to construct mini-stadiums in every upazila.
The State Minister for Youth and Sports added, "We have already initiated measures to establish sports as a profession. We want to discover new, talented players from the grassroots level. Opportunities at the national level must be provided to talented youths from remote areas of the country, not just those in the capital or major cities."
Emphasizing the importance of building a beautiful and peaceful society by keeping the youth away from drugs and crime through sports, Aminul Haque stated that young people should be engaged in cultural activities alongside sports. This would foster discipline, leadership qualities, and human values ??among them.
He further added, "We believe that through sports and cultural engagement, it is possible to guide our youth and future generations toward a beautiful, peaceful, and humane society." "We want to build a prosperous and humane Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman."
Local political and social leaders, including Members of Parliament Shafiqur Rahman Kiran and Sayeed Ahmed Aslam, were present at the event.
