Euphoria's Palash Sen recalls Shah Rukh Khan’s school days
Singer Palash Sen, who was a year senior to Shah Rukh at St Columba’s School in Delhi, says the future actor stood out even then — not just among students, but among teachers too.
“There is one thing we should all learn from Shah Rukh — how to make yourself attractive to others,” Palash said in a recent interview, according to Anandabazar. “It wasn’t just the students; the teachers also liked him very much. I have never seen teachers show that kind of affection towards anyone else.”
Palash, best known as the frontman of Indian band Euphoria, said he and Shah Rukh were close despite being in different years at school.
He remembers him as unusually confident, ambitious and talented.
“I have never seen anyone so charismatic, ambitious and talented before,” he said.
There was, however, one thing Shah Rukh apparently could not do particularly well: sing.
Palash recalled that when Shah Rukh took part in school plays, he would sometimes provide the singing voice for him.
The memory is one Palash now looks back on with amusement, especially given how far his old school friend went on to travel in the entertainment world. After leaving school, the two did not meet regularly, though Palash said they would occasionally cross paths at events and parties. The distance did little to change how he felt about Shah Rukh’s success. “I am proud of everything Shah Rukh has achieved in life. I still feel very happy whenever I see him,” Palash said.
Palash Sen has built a long career of his own in Indian music as the lead singer of Euphoria, while also working as a lyricist, composer, actor and director.
Shah Rukh, meanwhile, is preparing for his next film, “King”.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film also features Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Suhana Khan, Raghav Juyal, Arshad Warsi and Jaideep Ahlawat.
“King” is scheduled for theatrical release on Dec 24.
