A special three-month program marking the National Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Drive-2026 has been launched in Dinajpur on Saturday like elsewhere in Bangladesh.
Speaking at the inauguration, Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam said, "There is no alternative to a collective effort to raise public awareness about dengue prevention and to destroy mosquito breeding grounds. To this end, various special programs-including cleanliness drives and awareness campaigns-will be conducted over the next three months."
The inaugural ceremony, held in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office, was attended by Dinajpur Superintendent of Police Md. Zedan Al Musa; Zila Parishad Administrator and District BNP President Mofazzal Hossain Dulal; District BNP Vice-President Akhtaruzzaman Jewel and officials from various district administration departments, journalists, civil society representatives, and scouts.
Teachers and students from educational institutions participated in an awareness rally aimed at fostering public consciousness.
They also cleaned up garbage and debris from the vicinity of various government offices and other locations across the town.
