President Mirza Fakhrul accorded grand reception in Sylhet

A grand civic reception was accorded to President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir during his visit in Sylhet.

Sylhet City Corporation organized the reception at the City Corporation ground on Tuesday afternoon. President's spouse Rahat Ara Begum was also present there.  

To mark the arrival of the President in Sylhet city on the banks of historic Surma River, the entire town was adorned with colorful banners, festoons, and arches.

People from various walks of life, prominent citizens, professionals, business leaders, and political leaders joined the programme. 

Upon arrival at the venue, Sylhet City Corporation Administrator Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury warmly welcomed and paid respects to the President with flower bouquets. 

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam said, "Sylhet has huge potential in tourism, tea, fisheries and industries. The hills, rivers, waterfalls, tea gardens, forests and haors here together make Sylhet one of the major tourism regions of Bangladesh. I believe there are opportunities to develop these potentials further." 

 "The expatriates and people who have sufficient capabilities must come forward to invest in these sectors. I believe our tourism industry here will develop much more if they invest more," he said.

Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury,  Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Whip Alhaj Md GK Gaus, Bangladesh Ambassador to Mexico M. Mushfiqul Fazal (Ansarey), Sylhet City Corporation administrator Abdul Quiyum Choudhury, among others, spoke on the occasion.
