Ansar-VDP Launch Anti-Dengue Drive in Mohanpur to Curb Aedes Mosquito Breeding
Members of the local Ansar and Village Defence Party (Ansar-VDP) have launched a special cleanliness and public awareness campaign in Mohanpur Upazila of Rajshahi as part of ongoing efforts to prevent dengue and curb the spread of the Aedes mosquito.

The awareness initiative and rally were held on Tuesday morning under the leadership of Mohanpur Upazila Ansar and VDP Officer Md. Rakibul Hasan.

As part of the nationwide anti-dengue campaign, Ansar-VDP members carried out a proactive cleanliness drive across the local main market, key roads, and surrounding areas. They removed accumulated waste and stagnant materials and sprayed mosquito-control chemicals at potential breeding sites.

Following the sanitation drive, the participants organized an awareness rally aimed at sensitizing residents about dengue prevention and distributed leaflets containing precautionary messages among members of the public.

The campaign primarily focused on preventing water from accumulating in and around residential and public areas, thereby disrupting potential breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes, the principal vector responsible for dengue transmission.

Residents were urged to keep their homes and surrounding areas clean, eliminate stagnant water, and remain vigilant for possible dengue symptoms. They were also advised to seek prompt medical attention if symptoms associated with dengue emerge.

Local residents have welcomed the administration’s proactive initiative and the direct involvement of Ansar-VDP members in the field-level sanitation campaign.

According to those concerned, such coordinated community-based efforts could make a meaningful contribution to strengthening dengue prevention, raising public awareness, and containing the spread of the disease in rural communities.

The campaign also underscores the importance of grassroots participation and sustained public vigilance in combating mosquito-borne diseases and maintaining a cleaner, safer, and healthier community environment.
