DNCC Conducts Eviction Drive in Mirpur with Support from Ansar Battalion
The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Wednesday conducted an eviction drive along roads and footpaths stretching from Shah Ali Market in Mirpur-1 to Sony Square in Mirpur-2, clearing a range of illegal structures and encroachments from public thoroughfares.
The mobile court operation commenced at approximately 9:00 a.m. under the leadership of DNCC Executive Magistrate Marufa Begum Neli.
During the drive, various forms of unauthorized establishments, makeshift shops and roadside hawkers occupying both sides of the road and footpaths were removed. Unauthorized advertising billboards and unipole signs installed without the requisite approval were also dismantled. The DNCC authorities confiscated a substantial quantity of goods and merchandise from the evicted establishments.
To maintain law and order throughout the operation, 30 members of different ranks of the Dhaka Metropolitan Ansar Battalion (41 BN) were deployed to the field under the direction of the Commander of the Dhaka Metropolitan Ansar Western Zone. Members of the Ansar Battalion participated in the operation alongside the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in the presence of the Thana Ansar-VDP Officer for Mirpur.
The approximately 90-minute operation concluded without any untoward incident.
The Ansar Battalion members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force remain committed to extending their services with utmost dedication and professionalism in support of any initiative undertaken by the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to prevent public inconvenience and safeguard the security, welfare and interests of citizens.
Following the operation, the footpaths—whose prolonged encroachment had been a persistent source of hardship for pedestrians—were substantially cleared of illegal occupation, restoring greater accessibility for the general public.
