WUB organizes workshop on Advancing Research Excellence in Collaboration with University of Leeds

World University of Bangladesh (WUB) organized a workshop titled “From Collaboration to Publication: Advancing Research Excellence” in collaboration with the University of Leeds, UK, on 15 September 2026 at the Founding Treasurer Morsheda Choudhury Auditorium of WUB.


The workshop was conducted by Professor Dr. Mohammad Faisal Ahammad, Head of the International Business Department, University of Leeds, UK. The program brought together members of WUB’s academic leadership, faculty members, and senior students to explore opportunities for strengthening international academic and research collaboration.


The workshop focused on enhancing research excellence and developing effective pathways from academic collaboration to high-quality research publications. Professor Dr. Mohammad Faisal Ahammad shared valuable insights and perspectives on research collaboration, international academic networking, joint publications, and opportunities for strengthening institutional partnerships.


A dedicated discussion session was also held on potential areas of future collaboration between WUB and the University of Leeds. The discussion covered joint research initiatives; co-organizing conferences, seminars, workshops and training programs; joint publications; PhD enrollment and scholarship opportunities; collaborative research funding; and curriculum development.


As part of the program, a separate session on “Course Simulation for Business Studies” was organized with the participation of WUB’s academic leadership and faculty members from the Faculty of Business Studies. The session explored the application of business simulation and experiential learning approaches in business education, with particular emphasis on enhancing students’ practical learning and supporting curriculum development.


The program was attended by senior academic leaders of WUB, including Professor Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor; Professor Zaki Imam, Registrar; Professor Dr. AQM Shafiul Azam, Dean of Academic Affairs and Research and Acting Head, Department of English; Professor Dr. Selim Ahmed, Director, Research and Innovation Center (RIC) and Dean, Faculty of Business Studies; Md. Kamrul Hossain, Joint Registrar; and Mohammed Shaiful Hannan, Joint Controller of Examinations.


Other distinguished participants included Professor Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman, Director of IQAC and Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering; Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Jalil, Dean, Faculty of Arts & Humanities; Engr. Dr. Swapan Kumar Sarkar, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Biomedical Engineering and Public Health; and faculty members of the Faculty of Business Studies.


The workshop was organized with the support of the Research and Innovation Center (RIC), WUB, as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to expand international academic partnerships, promote research collaboration, and create opportunities for faculty and students to engage in global academic initiatives. Afroza Shipla, Junior Deputy Registrar coordinated the program.  


The event concluded with a shared commitment to exploring and developing long-term academic and research collaboration between WUB and the University of Leeds, particularly in the areas of joint research, publications, academic events, research funding, student and faculty opportunities, and curriculum development.
