Jahad murder case: 12 BNP, Jubo Dal and JCD men Arrested


Police arrested 12 named accused, including leaders and activists affiliated with the BNP, Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal, in connection with the murder of Jahadul Islam, 33, a resident of Purangarh Union of Satkania Upazila in Chattogram.

Jahad was allegedly intercepted by a group of assailants after they put up a road barricade and stopped his motorcycle before hacking him to death.

According to police, a total of 10 of the accused went to Dhaka allegedly to avoid arrest and were preparing to seek bail from the High Court. They were subsequently arrested from different parts of the capital. The remaining two were arrested from the Pahartali area of Chattogram city.

The arrests were made in two separate drives on the night of Monday, September 14. Initially, two accused were arrested from the Pahartali area by the Chattogram District Detective Branch (DB). Acting on information obtained from them, police later arrested 10 more accused from different areas of Dhaka.

Chattogram District Police Superintendent Md MasudAlam, PPM, confirmed the arrests at a press briefing at the district police superintendent's office in Nasirabad on Wednesday morning.

The arrestees have been identified as Md Jasim Uddin alias Mishti Jasim, Zainal Abedin Manik, Mohammad Ridwan Islam and Tipu alias Mishti Tipu, 
Abu Mazharul Islam Ifaz, Abdullah Al Tushar, Khorshed Alam alias Faruk, Md Robiul Hossain Rabi, Abul Kashem alias Loittya Kashem, Habibur Islam alias Habib, Md Azad and Md Helal. Police said all the named accused except accused No. 5, Md Sazzad, have now been arrested.
