Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir on Thursday provided financial assistance to the bereaved family of Special Branch Sub-Inspector (Unarmed) Md Altaf Hossain, who was killed in the line of duty.
The family members of the slain police officer met the IGP, who is also chairman of the Bangladesh Police Welfare Trust, at Police Headquarters in Dhaka on Thursday morning.
During the meeting, the IGP handed over financial assistance to the family on behalf of the Police Welfare Trust.
Expressing deep condolences to the bereaved family, the IGP said Altaf's sacrifice while performing his duty was a shining example of professional dedication.
"Bangladesh Police will always remember his outstanding contribution with due respect," he said.
Assuring the family of all possible support from the police, the IGP also said Altaf's supreme sacrifice deserved the country's highest state honour.
It may be mentioned that SI (Unarmed) Md Altaf Hossain was killed in a surprise attack by criminals while performing his duty at Bardeshi Paschimpara in Savar on the evening of September 5.
