IFIC Bank to fund leather industry under BB scheme

Bangladesh Bank has established a Tk 2,000 crore Pre-Finance Scheme to support the development of the leather and leather goods industry, promote environmentally friendly production, and enhance export capacity. 

Under the scheme, IFIC Bank PLC will be able to provide loans of up to Tk 30 crore at a maximum interest rate of 7 percent to tannery and leather goods manufacturing companies, as well as enterprises engaged in related supporting industries, according to a press release.

An agreement relating to the disbursement of financing under the Pre-Finance Scheme was signed at the Head Office of Bangladesh Bank on Wednesday. In the presence of Md. Anis Ur Rahman, Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank, the agreement was signed by Md. Zabdul Islam, Director of the SME & Special Programmes Department of Bangladesh Bank, and Syed Mansur Mustafa, Managing Director of IFIC Bank PLC, on behalf of their respective organisations.

Md. Mojibur Rahman Sheikh, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, along with officials from both organisations, was also present at the ceremony.
