Two-day Jatra festival ends in Sunamganj
A two-day Jatra festival, organised as part of the celebration of the birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and Nazrul Year, concluded here on Saturday.
The festival was organised jointly by Sunamganj District Shilpakala Academy and Bangladesh Jatra Shilpa Unnayan Parishad, BSS reports.
On the second and final day of the festival, the Jatra play “Sindur Diye Kinlam” was staged at the Hasan Raja Auditorium of the District Shilpakala Academy at 6.30 pm. Mahadev Haldar wrote the play, while Abdul Kadir directed it.
Eminent cultural personality Ramendra Bhattacharya attended the programme as the chief guest, while District Cultural Officer Ahmed Manzurul Haque Chowdhury presided over the event.
Members of the district BNP convening committee Akbar Ali, former district BNP general secretary Nadir Ahmed, Sadar upazila BNP convener Faruk Ahmed Lilu, Bangladesh Jatra Shilpa Unnayan Parishad Organising Secretary Abul Hasan, Police Superintendent Mohammad Zakir Hossain, Poura BNP convener Md Saifullah Hasan Juned, theatre personality Monju Talukdar, noted businessmen Jillu Rahman and Nurul Amin Chowdhury and Jatra organisation adviser and noted cultural personality Shukla Roy Chowdhury, among others, attended the programme.
Bangladesh Jatra Shilpa Unnayan Parishad, Sunamganj district unit General Secretary Sirajul Islam Palash moderated the programme.
