Bangladesh reports eight more dengue deaths
Another eight people have died from dengue, while 1,432 more patients have been hospitalised over the past 24 hours.
Five of the latest fatalities were in Khulna Division and three in Dhaka, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
September's toll has reached 123, the highest monthly figure recorded so far this year.
The health directorate said 1,429 patients were discharged in the latest 24-hour period, while 71,536 people have been hospitalised with dengue this year.
The highest number of dengue hospitalisations was recorded in 2023, when 321,179 people were admitted and 1,705 died.
More than 400 people died from dengue last year, when around 102,000 cases were reported.
The mosquito borne disease is transmitted to humans through infected mosquitoes but there is no specific treatment for the infection. Bangladesh usually sees a season of dengue between June to September.
The country reported a record 281 deaths related to dengue in 2022, according to the DGHS.
