EWU celebrates its 30th founding anniversary in a festive atmosphere
East West University (EWU) celebrated its 30th founding anniversary with grand, colorful, and joyous festivities. The day-long event was held at the university campus in Aftabnagar, Dhaka on Saturday.
The celebrations officially began in the morning with the release of colorful balloons, attended by members of the Board of Trustees, university administration, faculty members, students, and alumni. Following the inauguration, a colorful rally circled the campus and surrounding areas.
A reflection session and a cultural program took place on the university’s open premises. Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of EWU, delivered the welcome address. Remarks were also presented by Professor Dr. Anindita Paul on behalf of the faculty members, and Rozina Parvin on behalf of the administrative officers.
Dr. Rubana Huq, Vice-Chancellor of Asian University for Women, also spoke on the occasion, representing the alumni of EWU. Ms. Munize Manzur spoke on behalf of the Board of Trustees, and former Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. M. M. Shahidul Hassan also shared his memories.
The event's Chief Guest, Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Founder Vice-Chancellor and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of EWU, delivered an address highlighting the university's 30 years of excellence.
During the reflection session, speakers recounted the journey of EWU, which began in September 1996 with only 20 students. They highlighted the university's achievements over the past three decades in providing world-class education and advancing research. The speakers also outlined a strategic vision for strengthening the university's global standing in the coming years.
Interspersed throughout the discussion and concluding the event, students, alumni, and faculty members performed in a cultural show. The celebration was attended by members of the Board of Trustees, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Treasurer, Deans of various faculties, Department Chairs, faculty members, current students, and alumni.
