Ansar Members Recover Two Lost Laptops Worth Nearly Tk 400,000 at Airport, Return Them to Owner
Two laptops, a passport and other important documents left behind at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport have been recovered and returned to their rightful owner by members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force.
The Ansar members demonstrated honesty, vigilance and a strong sense of responsibility by securing the belongings and, after completing the necessary verification process, handing them over to the owner.
At around 7:15am, APC Md. Golam Rabbani, APC Md. Iman Ali and APC Md. Saheb Ali were on duty at the airport's Canopy-02 area when they noticed a bag left unattended on a trolley. They took the bag into their custody and, upon inspection, found two laptops, a passport and several important documents inside.
After checking the information on the passport, the Ansar members identified the bag as belonging to Md. Rakibul Islam, a passenger who had arrived from China on BG-367 flight. The matter was immediately reported to shift-in-charge PC Md. Nizam Uddin.
Taking the matter seriously, the shift-in-charge initiated efforts to locate the owner through public announcements and other means. He also contacted Md. Rakibul Islam by phone using the information available on his passport.
Upon receiving the information, Rakibul Islam quickly arrived at the airport's Canopy-02 area. He was subsequently taken to the Duty Security Officer's (DSO) office, where his identity and relevant documents were thoroughly verified.
Following the verification process, he was confirmed as the rightful owner. In the presence of senior officials, the two laptops, valued at approximately Tk 400,000, along with his passport and other important documents, were formally handed back to him.
Rakibul Islam had been deeply concerned after losing his bag containing the valuable laptops, passport and essential documents. After being informed by the Ansar members that his belongings had been recovered, he immediately returned to the airport.
He expressed relief after receiving all of his belongings intact and thanked the Ansar members for their honesty, humanity and sense of responsibility.
Ansar members deployed at important and sensitive facilities such as airports not only help maintain security but also assist passengers and members of the public when needed. The recovery and return of the valuable belongings in this case, following proper verification, stands as a notable example of their sense of duty, honesty and commitment to public service.
Members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force have been performing security duties at airports and other important installations across the country under the direction of the Director General. Alongside their security responsibilities, they regularly assist members of the public, recover lost property and work to prevent crime.
Such responsible actions contribute significantly to public safety and help strengthen public confidence in the force.
