Singapore eager to work for upgrading Bangladesh's immigration security
Outgoing Singaporean Chargé d'Affaires has expressed his country's eagerness in providing modern technology and technical assistance to strengthen Bangladesh's border and immigration security.
Chargé d'Affaires of Singapore Mitchel Lee said this during a courtesy call on Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed at his Home Ministry office in the Secretariat on Sunday, a PID media release stated.
During the meeting, the Singapore envoy and Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed talked about certain issues of bilateral relations, capacity building of Bangladesh Police, modernization of security systems at airports and land ports, technology transfer, economic and trade cooperation and some other relevant matters.
Mitchel Lee said bilateral relations and trade between Bangladesh and Singapore were expanding.
Salahuddin Ahmed also expressed hope that the appointment of a full-fledged Singaporean High Commissioner to Bangladesh would be completed soon to further strengthen bilateral trade and affiliations between the two countries.
Salahuddin Ahmed said the Bangladesh government is working to establish modern, technology-based immigration and border security systems in the frontier and airports.
Singapore's incoming Chargé d'Affaires Philip Ong, Additional Secretary of the Political and Immigration Wing of the Home Ministry DrZiauddin Ahmed and Second Secretary of the Singapore High Commission DhanyaLingesh were present at the meeting.
