DU Alumni Association celebrates 78th founding anniversary
The 78th founding anniversary of the Dhaka University (DU) Alumni Association was celebrated on Saturday, September 26, 2026, through a series of programs.
Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam inaugurated the celebrations as the chief guest at a ceremony held on the Senate Building premises of the university, according to a press release received from the Public Relations Department of Dhaka University.
The inaugural ceremony was chaired by ShamsuzzamanDudu, convener of the Dhaka University Alumni Association. Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Mohammad Al Mojadded Al Fesani, members of the association's executive committee and invited guests were also present.
The event was moderated by A. T. M. Abdul Bari Danny, member-secretary of the Dhaka University Alumni Association.
In his address, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam called upon the Alumni Association to work in coordination with the university administration to advance education and research at Dhaka University.
He said the university administration had taken initiatives to establish two separate funds-one to support research activities and another to provide scholarships to financially disadvantaged students. He urged the Alumni Association to play an effective role in making these initiatives successful.
The vice chancellor said the Alumni Association was helping strengthen the relationship and communication between the university and wider society. He sought the association's cooperation in further strengthening this relationship and expanding collaboration between industry and academia.
Following the discussion session, a cultural program was organized as part of the anniversary celebrations.
