World Tourism Day observed in Dinajpur
The World Tourism Day was observed in Dinajpur district on Sunday with a call for promoting the tourism industry in the region.
To mark the day, the district administration and Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation jointly brought out a colourful rally, which paraded various important roads in the district.
The theme of the day for this year is Tourism fosters prosperity and builds a sustainable future.
Dinajpur Sadar-3 MP Md. Syed Jahangir Alam inaugurated the day's events at 10:00 AM on Sunday by releasing balloons and festoons at the Deputy Commissioner's office premises.
Later, a special discussion meeting highlighting the significance and importance of the day was held at the conference room of the Tourism Motel.
Speaking as the chief guest at the meeting, Syed Jahangir Alam emphasized the development of tourism in the northern region.
Presided over by Dinajpur Pourashava Administrator Sheikh Hafizur Rahman, Additional Superintendent of Police Sumon Ranjan Sarkar and Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) S.M. Habibul Hasan spoke as special guests.
Dinajpur Government College Principal Md. Lutfar Rahman, District Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Abdur Rahim and Dinajpur Tourist Police Officer-in-Charge Md. Saidur Rahman also spoke on the occasion.
Md. Imrul Hasan, Manager of the Dinajpur Tourism Motel, delivered the welcome address at the beginning of the event.
The speakers remarked that the local economy could be revitalized through the development of tourism infrastructure and the effective promotion of the region's history and heritage.
They also called for collective efforts to create employment opportunities for the younger generation and to build a sustainable social future.
